The rise of the woman buyer, and the stamp-duty incentive worth knowing.

More luxury homes are being bought in women's names, for reasons both personal and practical.
A quiet shift is visible in the registry: more high-value homes are being bought in women's names, or jointly with a woman as first owner. Some of it is a genuine rise in women buyers and earners. Some of it is smart structuring by families.
Several states, Haryana among those that have used such measures, have at times offered a lower stamp-duty rate where the buyer is a woman. On a high-value purchase, even a small differential is a real sum, and it is entirely legitimate to structure ownership to capture it, where the rules allow.
A small rate difference, on a large number, is a large number.
Beyond the incentive
The trend is bigger than the tax. It reflects a generation of women who are principal decision-makers on the family's largest asset, and developers are, slowly, designing and selling to them accordingly.
I have seen the woman of the house go from signing where she is told to leading the entire decision. That is a good change, and overdue.
On the stamp-duty point, always check the current rule before you assume it, these concessions change. When it applies, it is free money most buyers leave on the table.
Every view here is the firm's own, informed by the deals we actually do. If it is useful, let us apply it to your situation.
